On the Mindfulness for Health Course you will learn
  • How to manage pain, illness and fatigue in daily life.
  • How to breathe into the present moment and find choice.
  • Breath and body awareness.
  • Gentle mindful movement and relaxation.
  • Mindfulness meditation practice including cultivating kindness towards yourself and empathy for others.
The Mindfulness for Health course is an 8 week programme based on the award winning book by Vidyamala Burch and Danny Penman however participating in group course offers much more than just reading the book. You will be supplied with additional materials, including 4 CDs and a work book, but more importantly you will receive guidance and support and build your skills alongside other people. Although I will lead the course, it is a shared learning experience with everyone participating and learning from each other.

Home Practice

Mindfulness is not simply a technique, it is a particular attitude to life and so home practice forms a very important part of the course. You will be encouraged to do two short, 10-20 minute, guided practices daily and a different ‘habit release’ each week ie look at the sky.
When we are trying to change anything, the first thing is to ‘see’ what we already do. To aid this process you will be encouraged to notice your thoughts and behaviours and also keep a diary for 1 week.
When we are in pain, stressed or feeling overloaded it can be difficult to contemplate change, especially if we think it will add more into our already busy life. I aim to make the atmosphere of the classes supportive and encouraging, helping you explore when, where and how you can start to make small changes.  If you have concerns about the home practice please contact me  and we can chat it through.

Research

Breathworks invites all participants to confidentially complete online questionnaires before and after the course and 12 months after completion. The data collected is annonymised and used in research and to evaluate and develop the programmes. We are grateful for your help and support.
